Edges of Sanity is the earliest archive release. The starting point. The evidence that this has always been happening.
The year 2000. Electronic music was at a crossroads, drum and bass, progressive, trance, all competing for the same dancefloor. Edges of Sanity exists at that intersection, not fully committed to any single direction, which is probably why it still sounds relevant.
The Era
Building music in 2000 was different. The hardware cost more and did less. The software barely existed. Everything took longer and the results were less predictable, which forced a different kind of creativity, you worked with what you had and what you had had limits.
The Sound
Drum and bass influenced rhythm sections. Progressive fx chains. Looming leads that sit somewhere between techno and trance. Pads that have weight. This is what 25 years of music instinct sounds like when it's just getting started.
The Archive
This is where it begins in the digital record. Everything before this exists on tape, on old hard drives, in memory. Edges of Sanity is the first chapter of the publicly documented story.
