Under Mine. The title is a verb and a noun simultaneously, and that ambiguity is the whole album.
Something hard. Colder. Devoid of light. These are the words on the SoundCloud page and they're accurate, but they don't capture the specific quality of what this record does. It doesn't hit you on the surface. It works from underneath.
Cold Architecture
The production on Under Mine is deliberately stripped of warmth. The low end is tight rather than full. The rhythms are precise rather than driving. The result is music that functions like cold water, clarifying, uncomfortable, effective.
The Mining Metaphor
To undermine something is to dig beneath its foundations. Every track here is doing that, taking an expectation about where electronic music goes and routing around it, finding a way through that didn't exist before.
